East Tennessee State University Career Services is partnering with the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce and the ETSU National Alumni Association to host "Suit Up Bucs!", a community-wide professional clothing drive Nov. 2-4.
The initiative invites community members to donate new and gently used professional attire to support ETSU students as they prepare for career fairs, job interviews, internships, presentations and other professional opportunities.
All donations will benefit Bucky's Career Closet, a resource operated by ETSU University Career Services that provides students with professional clothing at no cost. The closet helps students access workplace attire while reducing financial barriers as they pursue their academic and career goals.
Community members are encouraged to donate suits, blazers, dresses, skirts, dress shirts, dress pants, professional footwear, ties and accessories. Donations help maintain the closet's inventory and ensure students have access to attire that supports their professional needs.
By providing access to professional clothing, Bucky's Career Closet helps students feel prepared and confident as they transition from the classroom to the workplace. The resource allows students to focus on presenting their skills, experiences and qualifications without the added financial burden of purchasing professional attire.
Through "Suit Up Bucs!", ETSU University Career Services and its community partners aim to strengthen local partnerships while supporting students' professional development. The initiative offers individuals, businesses and organizations an opportunity to make a direct impact on students' career readiness and future success.
Donations will be accepted Monday through Friday, Nov. 2-6, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following locations:
- Johnson City Chamber of Commerce, 602 Sevier St., Suite 101, Johnson City
- ETSU National Alumni Association, 602 Sevier St., Suite 100, Johnson City
- ETSU University Career Services, located on the second floor of the D.P. Culp Student Center, 412 J.L. Seehorn Road, Johnson City
Individuals donating at ETSU may call (423) 439-4450 to arrange for a student to meet them in the five-minute parking area outside the D.P. Culp Student Center with a wagon to collect their donations.
Those wishing to coordinate donations outside the scheduled drive may contact ETSU University Career Services at (423) 439-4450.
Through community support, "Suit Up Bucs!" will help ETSU students dress for success and take their next steps toward meaningful career opportunities.
