A world of imagination and discovery came to life at the ETSU Martin Center for the Arts as almost 1,200 students from across the region attended a special daytime performance of Alice in Wonderland, presented by the Barter Players on Monday, March 31, 2026. The production, made possible through the support of East Tennessee Insurance Agency, introduced young audiences to the wonder of live theater through a vibrant and engaging retelling of the classic story.
“East Tennessee Insurance is so very proud and blessed to sponsor this play, bringing the magic of theater to our community and providing opportunities for children to see an actual live performance. It is the first play for many children and the expression on their faces and the laughter warms my heart,” said Beth Larshus, owner of East Tennessee Insurance Agency. “We believe in the power of the arts to inspire the next generation. The Barter Players did an amazing job.”
Laughter and excitement filled the ETSU Foundation Grand Hall as the Barter Players brought energy and charm to each scene, creating an interactive experience that resonated with students and educators alike. For many in attendance, it was their first opportunity to experience a live theatrical performance, making the event both memorable and meaningful.
“Experiences like this help spark creativity and open the door to lifelong engagement with the arts,” said Jennifer Clements, Executive Director of the ETSU Martin Center for the Arts. “We are very grateful to East Tennessee Insurance Agency and the Barter Players for helping us create an opportunity where students can explore storytelling in such a fun and imaginative way.”
The ETSU Martin Center continues to expand access to the arts for students across the region by offering educational performances that inspire, entertain, and connect young audiences to the power of live performance. Through the ETSU Martin Center Ticket Subsidy Program, donors play a direct role in removing financial barriers and sparking a lifelong passion for the arts in students throughout the region.
