Most college students will be headed home for the summer in a few weeks, but that doesn’t mean East Tennessee State University’s campus will stay empty for long.
From health sciences to music, there’s an option that will get kids of any age out of the house, learning something new and making memories that will last a lifetime.
Sports
Women’s soccer: ETSU women’s soccer coach Jay Yelton and players are hosting three camps starting June 1, June 15 and July 6. Each session is four days long and open to girls ages 5 and up, with a half-day option for those under 5. Campers will learn fundamental skills and game strategies. Lunch and a camp T-shirt are provided – but be sure to bring a soccer ball.
There’s also an Elite ID session on July 11 for rising eighth graders and older to get an inside look at the training Buccaneer athletes go through, then play a match together.
Prices vary based on age and session length. Lunch will be provided.
Women’s basketball: ETSU women’s basketball head coach Brenda Mock and her team are holding two single-day camps for rising eighth through twelfth graders and a two-day program for girls 5-14 years old. Campers will work on game skills and teamwork while seeing what it’s like to be a Buc. Elite camps take place June 13 and August 8 and cost $100, while the day camp costs $250 and runs June 22-24. Lunch and a T-shirt are provided, and half-day options are available.
Men’s Basketball: Rising kindergarten through seventh grade boys can work on their skills and partake in some friendly competition with Men’s basketball coach Brooks Savage and players from June 15-18. Registration includes a camp shirt and ball. Campers will need to bring their own lunch.
Music
Bluegrass: Young musicians ages 5-19 can get a glimpse of campus life with the Bluegrass, Old-Time and Roots Music Program’s third annual camp July 6-10. Campers will get coaching and instruction from industry leaders, learn the history of bluegrass, make music together, tour campus and more. All meals are provided. Cost is $750 with room and board or $550 if participants choose to stay off campus.
Health Sciences
Gatton College of Pharmacy: The annual GattonRx summer camp runs June 1-5 and is open to rising high school juniors and seniors interested in pharmacy. Programming includes hands-on activities, time with current Gatton students and faculty, campus tours and more. Online registration is required, and only 25 spots are available. Pricing is $400 for a double occupancy room and $500 for a single.
Nursing: Rising sixth through eighth graders can see what a career in health care can look like with the College of Nursing’s Future Nurse Explorers Camp June 1-5. Campers will learn CPR, basic first aid and more while enjoying fun summer activities like a ropes course, a snow cone truck and more. The full week costs $200, which includes lunch each day and a T-shirt.
Additionally, the Office of Professional Development is bringing back week-long Renaissance Camps for their twenty-fourth year with new themes, field trips and other surprises. Camp runs in June and July with options for kids first grade through high school to explore the outdoors, space, music and even the chemistry behind cooking. A snack is provided in the afternoon, but campers will need to bring lunch each day.
