Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) and East Tennessee State University (ETSU) have created 11 new transfer pathways for students pursuing degrees in the arts, sciences, business and technology.

Leaders from the institutions signed a series of articulation agreements to formalize these pathways, which strengthen the long-standing partnership between the two institutions.

“At SWCC, we want students to see a clear pathway from their first semester to their long-term goals,” said Dr. Clint Hayes, SWCC president. “These transfer options with ETSU give students the confidence that their hard work here will carry forward and translate into meaningful academic and career opportunities.”

The agreements help pave the way for students from SWCC to complete their bachelor’s degrees in fields ranging from finance to fine arts.

“These agreements make it more seamless for students to move from an associate degree at SWCC to a bachelor’s degree at ETSU,” said Dr. Kimberly D. McCorkle, ETSU provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs. “Together, we are helping students advance in fields that support both personal goals and regional workforce needs.”
