East Tennessee State University is waiving the $25 undergraduate application fee for out-of-state students throughout October.

This month, prospective first-year and transfer students living outside of Tennessee can apply for admission for fall 2027 without paying the application fee. Eligible students can use the code OOSFreeApp27 when completing their application to have the fee waived. The code is valid until Oct. 31.

“ETSU enrolls students from nearly every state, so our community extends far beyond state lines,” said Timothy Lewis, director for undergraduate recruitment at ETSU. “We are committed to affordability, and we’ve set our out-of-state tuition to be competitive with what students would find attending college in their home state. Free Application Month is the perfect opportunity to explore ETSU without cost being a barrier to taking that first step.”

As undergraduate enrollment has grown, the university has earned major accolades for quality, affordability and academic outcomes. Earlier this semester, the university welcomed 2,288 first-year students. It was the largest incoming class in ETSU history.
