The glide of skates on ice returns to East Tennessee State University this month as the popular synthetic ice-skating rink opens for its annual run, transforming University Commons into a winter wonderland through mid-December.

The rink officially opens Monday, November 17, right after ETSU’s Holiday Lights Celebration, offering free skating from 6:30-9 p.m. along with food, a DJ and giveaways to kick off the season.

What are the ice rink’s operating hours?

After the grand opening, the rink will be open weekly through Commencement, Saturday, December 13:

  • Thursday and Friday: 5-9 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 2-7 p.m.

The rink will be closed during Thanksgiving week when the university is closed.

How much does it cost to skate at ETSU?

ETSU is making ice skating accessible to the entire community:

  • ETSU faculty, staff and students: Free with a valid ETSU ID
  • Community members: $5

Skate rentals are included in the admission price.
