As students and families begin planning for college, a new national ranking is reinforcing what many East Tennessee State University students already know: a high-quality education doesn't have to come with a high price tag.
Money magazine has once again recognized ETSU on its 2026 Best Colleges in America list, highlighting universities that deliver strong academic quality, affordability and positive student outcomes. Out of more than 2,400 four-year institutions evaluated nationwide, only 735 earned a place on this year's list.
For students considering where to apply this fall, the recognition offers confirmation that ETSU combines academic excellence with exceptional value.
"Choosing a college is one of the most important investments students and families will make," said Dr. Heather Levesque, associate vice president and executive director of Undergraduate Admissions. "This recognition reflects ETSU's commitment to providing a quality education while helping students graduate with less debt and more opportunities."
A smart investment in your future
Money evaluates colleges using measures that matter most to students and families, including graduation rates, cost of attendance, affordability and graduates' financial outcomes.
ETSU continues to stand out in making higher education accessible.
- Nearly half of ETSU graduates leave with no student loan debt.
- Approximately 85% of students receive some form of financial aid.
- ETSU has consistently ranked among the nation's top institutions for helping students graduate with low levels of debt.
Those outcomes are supported by a university-wide commitment to helping students navigate college costs from the moment they apply through graduation.
